The DFA Design for Asia Awards (DFAA) is one the flagship programs of the Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC), that celebrates design excellence and acknowledges outstanding designs with Asian perspectives.
For the third time we have joined forces with DFAA and created two series of videos for the notable annual event. We used a mix of both 2D and 3D animated elements to make the videos more fun to watch and able to capture the attention from the audience.

For the main branding video, we wanted to remind the audience of how this Award brings in new innovative creations every year, and used the brand’s refreshing yellow paired with purple along with the square shape of the logo to showcase the overall branding and used burnt orange, meaning passion, desire and action, fittingly to represent the Young Design Talent category of the Award.
We have chosen epic orchestral music in these videos so as to create a grand ambience when they were played at the ceremony.
As for the judges’ comments for each of the awarded works, we used mainly the colours of the black, gold and white for the Award logo to create a more professional tone and manner, while parts of the brand’s yellow and purple were still being used in the videos to ensure consistency of the brand story.
To enlighten the audience of the innovations of each winning project, we used motivational and uplifting background music as the judges shared their comments.
