Business of Design Week (BODW) is one the flagship events of Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC). The prestigious annual event promotes and celebrates design excellence, inspiring and engaging the local and international design community with the latest industry trends and insights.
Known for being at the forefront of global design trends, Italy was chosen as the partner country of BODW this year.
We wanted to bring in visual sophistication and boldness to reflect this in the branding videos we created, including the event teaser, opening animation and the event highlights.
We have chosen epic progressive orchestral music for the three videos. The event teaser video was to build up inspiration for the audience, and applied 2D animation with bold geometric shapes as transitions between scenes of information and upcoming speakers; and the add-in of Italy’s national colours of green, white and red made the videos fuller, but also served to remind the viewers of the partner country of the event.
We created 3D motion graphics for the opening animation, and featured the “red ball” of the brand to capture the audience’s attention and direct their eyeballs as the ball rolled through the different scenes. For the event highlights, we put in images of Hong Kong’s business districts to create playful geometric forms for an engaging opening, along with the 2D colourful branding elements used in the video for brand uniformity.
